Nottingham Diabetic Retinopathy Service

The Service provides central call and recall from a single collated list of people with Diabetes. This complies with the National Service Framework for Diabetes targets.

The Service provides quality assurance reports to local Primary Care Trusts, the Strategic Health Authority and the National Screening Committee.

Of note:
- The patient can view their retinal image at the time of screening.
- Preliminary results are available at the time of screening.
- Final grading is performed and the result issued to patient, GP and Specialist Diabetes Team (if appropriate).
- Referral for treatment is made directly to an Ophthalmologist to minimise the risk of visual loss.
